Bells

Trixie flung her leg across the body of the man lying next to her in her bed. The sun drifted through the open window and the curtains billowed slowly as a gentle breeze blew through them.

“Hrumph.” grunted Trixie’s companion and he shifted slightly to make himself and Trixie more comfortable.

“What’s the matter? Did I hurt that body of yours?” asked Trixie, with a grin.

“Nope, not at all. Are you planning on getting up? ” he asked.

"Well, I suppose we’re going to have to get out of this bed eventually, huh?” replied Trixie.

“Maybe,” he smiled lazily at Trixie, then stopped. “Hey, wait, do you hear something?”

“What did you hear?” asked Trixie, propping herself up on her elbows and listening to the different sounds of her apartment.

“It sounded like a bell ringing.”

Trixie and Tad looked at each other in shock. “A bell ringing!” they said in unison The two immediately scrambled out of Trixie’s bed and began searching through the room for various pieces of their clothing. They froze as they both heard the distinctive ringing of the bell again. Tad looked at Trixie who nodded back at him.

“That’s my doorbell,” she whispered.

The ringing stopped and the sound of someone banging on the door could be heard.

“Hey Trix, are you in there?” yelled Bobby.

“What do you want to do, Trix?” asked Tad.

Trixie shrugged. “Guess there is no time like the present.” Trixie threw on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt and went to open her door.

“Hey Trixie, what took you so long to open the door?” demanded Bobby. “I was beginning to think that you weren’t…” Bobby's voice dropped off as he saw Tad Webster emerge from Trixie’s bedroom. The shocked look on his face turned to glee when he recognized the opportunity in front of him. “Nice, Trixie. You and Tad. It’s about time. Hmm, I wonder what Brian and Mart will say?” he asked, trying to make himself look as innocent as possible. Bobby glanced at Tad, trying to appear nonchalant, “Hey Tad, you think your brother can do anything about the parking ticket I got last week?”

"Nope," answered Tad.

“No?” Bobby questioned. “Are you sure?”

“Yep,” replied Tad.

Bobby watched as his sister and Tad linked their arms around each other and went into the kitchen. “Rats,” he muttered.
