Ides of March

Trixie paused at the doorway to the Wheeler’s formal living room. Even though the room was dimly lit, she could see the figures of her friends and family as they moved around the room. Trixie looked down at her garb and smoothed it. She fiddled with the knot at her shoulder, making certain that it was tight and secure. Satisfied that it was, she moved into the room and immediately ran into Honey.

"Trixie, you look darling," Honey commented as she straightened the wreath of fig leaves that was lying atop Trixie’s curls.

"I can’t believe you are having a toga party to celebrate the Ides of March," exclaimed Trixie.

"I thought it would be fun and different." said Honey. Noting the arrival of some more friends, Honey excused herself. Trixie began circling the room, looking for the remaining Bobwhites. She found them clustered in a corner, all wearing the required white sheet.

"Trixie, you look like a goddess," squealed Diana.

"I don’t know about that, but I seriously think this is the most comfortable dress I have ever worn," grinned Trixie.

Dan slid his arm around Trixie’s waist and whispered in her ear, "Nothing too constricting underneath it, huh?"

Trixie looked up at Dan with a coy grin and responded, " I could ask you the same thing."

"I’ll just use my imagination," he said as he winked at the blond vision in front of him.

Diana slipped her arm into the crook of Mart’s arm and tossed her long, dark hair over her bare shoulder, "Mart swears he has nothing underneath. He thinks that he will be able to eat more food if he has no tight garments on him that would slow him down."

Trixie rolled her eyes as the rest of the group chuckled. The music volume increased and the Bobwhites joined in the dancing and fun. Thirst and hunger drove them to the buffet that had been laid out. Honey and Trixie had just filled their plates when they heard a commotion across the room. They both looked up to see an embarrassed Mart hastily retie his sheet around his shoulder.

"Gleeps! Don’t tell me my brother lost his toga? That would be really traumatizing to your guests, Honey, especially if he has nothing on underneath it," said Trixie as she watched her brother.

Dan came over to the two girls, tears leaking out of his eyes as he laughed.

"What?" Trixie demanded.

"Good news and bad news," Dan choked out as he struggled to contain his laughter.

"The good news is that Mart does have something on under his toga. The bad news is that we all know he is wearing Ghostbuster boxers."

Trixie and Honey were still giggling when an embarrassed Mart walked by.

Trixie just couldn’t resist whispering to him, "Et tu, Egon?"
