Immersion

Trixie grumbled to herself as she pulled out the ingredients necessary for the creation of Moms' chocolate cake She had already assembled the mixing bowl, spoons and measuring cups. She frowned at the growing pile of kitchen supplies that was sitting on the counter.

"I suppose this is fair," she muttered to herself. "Honey made a birthday cake for Brian, Diana made one for Mart, and now it is my turn to make one for Dan. On the other hand, it is unfair to Dan because I am pretty sure his cake won’t be edible. I wish Moms was making this cake."

Trixie reviewed the recipe in her mother’s cookbook and got busy measuring the flour and sugar. After she put the rest of the ingredients into the mixing bowl, she attempted to slide her mother’s heavy mixer across the counter. Trixie grunted as she struggled with the immovable object. Suddenly, she remembered the immersion blender her mother kept for smaller projects. Trixie grabbed it from the drawer and plugged it in. She dunked it into her cake batter and watched as the ingredients in the bowl began to combine. After several minutes of mixing, Trixie was satisfied that the cake batter was ready to be poured into the cake pans. Trixie lifted the blender out of the batter, not bothering to turn it off. She gasped when giant globs of cake batter took flight across the kitchen.

"Oh, gleeps! What have I done?" Trixie cried out.

Trixie heard a choking noise behind her and spun around, the mixer still held in her hand. She grimaced as she saw big chocolate splotches land on her brother’s face and arms. Trixie quickly turned the immersion blender off and looked up at Mart. She couldn't stop the giggle when she saw some chocolate drip off Mart’s eyebrows and land on his t-shirt.

"Oops! Sorry, Mart."

Trixie went to the sink and grabbed a towel to help Mart with his clean up. When she turned back to Mart, she found him calmly licking the cake batter off his t-shirt.

"Hmmmm, not bad Beatrix. But I think you need to work on your technique," he commented.

Mart lifted his shirt up more so he could lick off the rest of the batter, while Trixie wiped the splatters off the cabinets. They were both interrupted by the sound of Bobby coming through the door. He looked at Mart and at Trixie, his face puzzled. The puzzled look was replaced with a big grin.

"Hey, Trix, can you make make a chocolate batter shirt for me too?" he asked eagerly.
