Trixie sat at the kitchen table, savoring the soft spring breeze that drifted through the open window. Her algebra book and papers were spread out in front of her as she worked diligently on one of her homework problems. Trixie's studies were interrupted by the sound of a commotion outside. She glanced out the window and saw Bobby running across the backyard toward the farm. As he came closer, Trixie could hear him repeating over and over,
"I have the need for speed. I have the need for speed."
Trixie watched as Bobby jumped up on the terrace and sped across it. He threw open the kitchen door and entered the room, letting the door slam behind him.
"Bobby," Trixie called out. "What are you doing? What's going on?"
Bobby shook his head at his sister as he tore across the kitchen, through the family room and up the stairs. The entire time he was moving, Trixie could hear him repeating to himself,
"I have the need for speed I have the need for speed."
Trixie tilted her head as she followed the sound of his footsteps in the upstairs hall and jumped when she heard the bathroom door bang shut. A minute later, the sound of a flushing toilet and swooshing water echoed through the farm house. Rolling her eyes and shaking her head, Trixie returned to her algebra homework.
"Need for speed?" she muttered to herself. "Gleeps! What'll he do next?"
She snickered as she solved one problem and moved on to the next.
