Thud

Diana, Honey, Mart, Brian and Jim piled into the car and headed off to the Memorial Day festivities in Sleepyside Park. They had all just arrived back in town that morning and were excited to be together. The conversation flew back and forth as they compared their experiences and challenges that they had faced that year in college.

"Where's Trixie," Diana asked.

"She was getting dressed so she said that she and Dan would meet us in the park," replied Honey.

"Oh, you mean she is deciding which sweatshirt to wear" grinned Diana.

The two girls giggled as the men looked at each other, then shrugged. Even though none of them had caught up to Trixie yet, they could all picture the cute tomboy.

Back at Crabapple Farm, Trixie surveyed herself in her bedroom mirror. She liked the blue, silky camisole top, the tumbling blond curls, and the glowing skin that gave her a sexy look. She felt proud of the changes and personal growth she had experienced and it showed. The old tomboy had been replaced by a strong and confident young woman. Trixie nodded at her reflection, satisfied with what she saw. She turned as she heard the doorbell chime. She carefully made her way down the stairs in her black high-heeled boots. She opened the door, wincing as it squeaked

Dan Mangan stood on the doorstep, eyes wide.

"Trix, you look amazing," he whispered and he swept her up in a big hug.

"You too, Dan. Now let's go have some good old-fashioned fun."

Trixie grabbed a short jacket and the two zoomed off to the town park.

Upon arriving, Trixie and Dan were happy to greet many old friends. They stopped and chatted and eventually made their way to the dance area, where the tunes were blaring and toes and heels were tapping. Dan held out his arm towards Trixie, "Shall we?"

Trixie giggled, nodded and followed him onto the dance floor.

Suddenly she heard a thud, followed by a clomp and then a thump.

"What was that?" she asked.

Dan grinned, " That was the sound of the jaws of Brian, Jim and Mart hitting the floor. "And," he continued, "wait for it...."

Then they heard a pfft and a plop.

"And that," Dan went on, " was the sound of Honey's and Diana's jaws."

The two laughed as they spun around.
